On a Macintosh computer you can find this drawing in the dialogue box used to set up the page before printing a document. It helps to display the way you will get the printed document: negative or positive, which way up, etc. This animal, also known as Clarus or Moof!, was drawn by Susan Kare just before Macintosh was launched in 1984, and was part of the Cairo font, a collection of designs made with a 30 x 30 pixel grid. Since then it has became increasingly famous, especially on the Internet, probably due its ambiguity: is it a dog or a cow?
